Hate Crime Awareness Campaign

Concept designs

The challenge was simple, to create a disruptive creative idea that raises awareness of hate crime in our region. Most people don’t know what a hate crime is. So this execution makes hate crime visible and makes it clear what you have to do when you see it, or it happens to you.
Real police incidents provided a sobering context for hate crimes. These stories involved burning someone’s hair because it’s different, to spitting in someone’s face because of their skin colour. The plan was to pull-in elements from these crimes to give the stories real context and use spaces around Manchester to bring these to life. Using 5 scenarios with levels of severity to indicate hate crime is verbal and physical.
